HELP US ESTABLISH A CHARITABLE FOUNDATION TO FIGHT CANCER IN DOGS….Cancer in dogs has become an ever increasing problem over the last 20 years based on our anecdotal experience. We bought our first Rottweiler, Chelsea, in 1987. We bred her twice and kept the pick of her second litter, Cody. Mother and son were a team and loyal companions to our family for over 12 years. We lost Chelsea at age 14 to natural causes. After she died, we bought Zoey.Cody passed away in his sleep at 13 years of age. Both were healthy until the day they died.Zoey earned several AKC obedience, rally and agility titles and had a litter of pups in 2005. We kept the runt of that litter, Toby. These two were loyal companions to our family. It does not get any better than these two. Toby also earned AKC obedience titles and became an American Champion in 2008. Both were Therapy Dogs and visited assisted living and nursing homes on a regular basis. Toby was also a Registered Service Dog. He went everywhere with me.But there’s a problemBased on our experience with Chelsea and Cody we thought we had another several years with Zoey and Toby. But that was not the case. Zoey was unexpectedly diagnosed with Lymphoma when she was 9 years old. Despite spending thousands of dollars on Chemo, Zoey passed away at a very young 10 years of age when the lymphoma spread to her nervous system and were told this was not treatable. After Zoey passed, we bought Halle who became an instant companion to Toby and our family. She earned several AKC obedience titles and became an American Champion at 2. She also earned the majority of her requirements to become a Grand Champion when she damaged her knee while playing too hard. Toby was still a very healthy 10 year old when a cancerous fist sized tumor on his liver began to bleed. We spent thousands of dollars to remove the tumor. Toby began to recover and was doing quite well when the cancer apparently spread to his blood and he passed away at a very young 10 years of age. He was very healthy until the tumor was detected. So something has changed in the last twenty years resulting in these magnificent animals succumbing to Cancer well before their time.I FELT HELPLESS NOT BEING ABLE TO CURE MY DOGS WHO BROUGHT SO MUCH JOY TO NOT ONLY OUR FAMILY BUT THE ELDERLY IN NUMEROUS NURSING HOMES AND ASSISTED LIVING FACILITIES.Here’s what we’re doing about itWe therefore want to establish a charitable foundation to help:· Fund research on Cancer Prevention and Treatment of Dogs· Provide funding to families dealing with the high cost of Cancer TreatmentPLEASE HELP US ESTABLISH THIS FOUNDATION BY CONTRIBUTING WHAT YOU CAN AFFORD.You can join usJoin us and let's work together to eradicate cancer in dogs and help struggling owners deal with exorbitant costs of veterinary care.
