The IU Student Outreach Clinic (IUSOC) is a free clinic run out of the Neighborhood Fellowship Church on Indianapolis’s near east side. Working alongside physicians and other partners, IU medical students offer an array of services for these community members. IU medical students are making an impact in this area by providing services to members of this community who would not otherwise have access to free primary care-based medical services. Your support will allow IU medical students to continue offering these services to those who need it most.
Additionally, the clinic provides important training for medical students. By donating, you enable medical students to practice patient interaction skills with real patients who have real medical needs. Students also have the opportunity to learn leadership skills through their roles at the clinic. These experiences are unique to IU School of Medicine and the training we provide, but they would not be possible without IUSOC and its supporters. Join us in continuing to provide these important education opportunities for our medical students with a new gift today.
More information about the IU Student Outreach Clinic-Indianapolis (IUSOC) and the community it serves:
IUSOC is a free clinic currently housed in the Neighborhood Fellowship Church on Indy’s near east side. While racially, culturally, and economically diverse, this neighborhood is known for its united sense of community. Unfortunately, 50% of residents live at or below poverty level.
Many report unmet health needs for a variety of reasons, including cost, transportation, or need of health insurance. IUSOC helps to close the healthcare gap in this community by serving as a warm and welcoming medical presence right in their neighborhood.
They address a wide variety of conditions, including chronic concerns such as high blood pressure, diabetes, and depression. They strive to provide high-quality medical care at no cost to patients while also working to re-connect them with established healthcare networks.
Please, make your gift today to help us serve the community and our students!
