The House Family

Denise is a divorced mother of 2 precious little boys.  James is 5 and his brother, Wyatt is about to celebrate his first birthday.  Denise has lived in the metro Atlanta area for many years.  She was married for almost 10 years but family violence brought an abrupt end to the relationship.  Denise has lived in a state of fear for the last several months and is concerned for the safety and welfare of her children.  While she has a court order of protection, it has not kept her former husband from trying to intimidate her.  The courts are doing their best to keep her safe but relocating to a new home in a different area will be a huge relief and blessing for Denise, James and Wyatt.

Denise was referred to Habitat for Humanity-North Central Georgia by another Habitat homeowner who has proven to be a great partner family.  The two ladies work together in the medical field.  Denise is a certified medical assistant and enjoys her work and helping others.  She is fortunate to have family in the immediate vicinity that provide emotional support and can help her with the children.

Denise’s brother is a minister of a small church in North Georgia where she and the boys attend.  She has been overwhelmed with feelings of gratitude since learning of her acceptance as a Habitat partner family.  It is difficult for her to believe this incredible blessing God has provided in the wake of many months of struggles adjusting to the upheaval in her family’s life.  She is very grateful and excited about building her new home in Acworth with Always Helping People, Mt. Bethel UMC, Mt. Zion UMC, Hillside UMC, Saint Clement's Episcopal, and the North Georgia United Methodist Homeless and Housing Council.
