I want to travel to finish my new book , plus invest more in mentoring work as a performance poet.I am helping other women find their voices, as well as making sure I can maintain and nurture my solo career.

For over a year now, I've been working on a book of poetry called BECAUSE THE SUN WOULD NOT MOVE - poems about leaving (voluntarily or not), being left, changing life patterns once again.
I've been in San Diego for ten years now, and in between moving, inhabiting different spaces, reinventing my life to adapt to whichever space I was in, I've (somehow) managed to get things done.I am a doer by nature and spirit. I love to see the world change through conscious action. The pandemic and years after played havoc with the money I saved. As an artist whose work is designed to be in front of an audience, I was out of luck. Even after the pandemic, opportunities just weren't there. In the midst of all this, I have had to leave the place I'd been living for 5 years.I was able to work a bit, but got the financial rug yanked out from under me. Was able to find a place to shelter for a year, but I have to leave here in June.But the work gets done. I'm starting to believe that being a nomad is the best way to get my message into the world.However,turning 65 and the financial disaster has made it very, very difficult. Performance poets have to be able to get to their audiences. Virtual shows (and I've done dozens) are a poor substitute. Fans want to see you live and in person. It provides a way to make connection. To learn the stories and see the ways your work can move a person. There is nothing in the world like connecting to an audience in front of you. I have been invited numerous times to come and perform all over the world. See my TESORO sisters in their natural habitats. But, finances have always made this complicated. I know, I could offer so much in the way of shared knowledge, engaging performance and welcoming energy, with the opportunity/ability to travel. Funds donated here would buy train/airfare and pay basic expenses. It will give me breathing space to finish the new book.
