Black Hearts Matter is a team participating in the 2015 DC Ragnar Relay October 2-3.  This team was created to help empower and motivate black women to engage in exercise.  82% of African America woman are overweight or obese.  No matter what your background is, ALL women need to exercise! If you are interested in running please contact me.

The Ragnar Relay is a 200 mile relay race from Cumberland, MD to DC.  The team will consist of 12 woman each running three times during the 24 hour race.  Each member of the team will run legs ranging from 3.5 to 12 miles. So as you can imagine this will require every member of the team to train and run months before the event so that they are ready!!  This will help motivate woman to exercise and run toward a goal.  They will also have the support of their teammates.

Because this is a 24 hour race, some of the ladies will be running at night.  Therefore we are required to have certain safety items like headlamps.  Two vans are also needed to transport the team between each exchange point.  We will also need water, food and toiletries so we can stay as comfortable as possible in between each sweaty run. : )

Thank you for your support!!
