38 donors/supporters and $3736... That's the love and respect we people have on our country... Feeling so proud to have you all in here. Thanks a lot for your wonderful and generous contribution. I hope you did like our updates and the work our volunteers have been doing back home. There was hip deep water at some and shoulder deep at few other, but that did not stop our volunteers whatsoever. They were determined that the hard earned money donated should reach the right people !
Hope you felt the complete utilization of your donations. And we welcome suggestions too. Pls drop a mail at [email protected] for any suggestions or feedbacks. For detailed updates of our next step, you may also follow : https://www.facebook.com/SmileWelfareFoundation/?ref=hl
Our relief activities have come to an end, but we will wait for the people to go back to normal, and start our next initiative too... This does not end here. Once again thank you so much for being a part of this fund raising!
Feeling proud. Home is where the heart is. And we all have proved our heart and thus our lovely Home too :)
Your support was the reason we were able to do so many things. Word's are not sufficient to show how grateful we are to everyone of you.

More Info

The fund raising mainly focuses on Chennai, as it has never seen or undergone such a disaster. Its almost sinking.( but since the rains have slowed down , the water started to recede) and it definitely cannot bear another downpour . The people in Chennai are stranded. Government is doing whatever is possible but we, as people , should also try to support during times like this. There pregnant ladies who are struggling to get to the hospitals, small babies who need food and milk , and elderly people who need their medicines. SMILE welfare Foundation, together with SUYAM trust and My India My Creation Inc has decided to volunteer and help people who need to taken care of, even if it means risking their own life. We have a strong team of volunteers who are always ready to go to any extant to keep the needy satisfied and safe. Though SMILE is basically related to education of kids, during times like this, we are open to funds for floods too. As a first part of the relief activity, we did clean up a place in Chennai slum called Vyasarpadi, bleached it clean and distributed Neelavembu water( medicinal water, that can work wonders against Dengue fevers and increase immunity as such) SUYAM trust prepared and provided food, and by the end of the day, we were able to clean a school, play area and few places nearby. But the second round of rains have been even more harsher but we wouldn't want to turn our backs now. We wanna prove that we are stronger than any Natural calamities and together with your support we can work wonders!

This link is mainly created for people residing abroad, who cannot transfer INR directly. Pls transfer in USD and we will  make sure that your funds reach the right hands.

Join hands and lets overcome the Chennai situation.

Our current focus is to primarily support Chennai, but Cuddalore is also equally affected and our prayers are always with people living there. By strong will and support we would love to extend our support to every part of affected areas as well!

Puducherry , an UT close to Tamil Nadu is also facing crisis.

This is the time to give the society back people! Let's not turn our back... As you read this, there is a kindhearted person saving or rescuing a family or friend's family , please show them your support.

Update #4

Recuperation work was done in many areas.
Our Volunteers teamed up with the local Panchayat and together cleaned the areas nearby. They bleached the place - this helps in driving the mosquitoes and other diseases away. The volunteers should really be appreciated as they never bothered about themselves, had their lunches at 4 pm and slept wherever possible without a single complaint.

Update #2

Overall, the day was eventful, volunteers were happy and so were the people.
Our main focus was on Baby kit(Diaper, medicines and the like)
Hygiene kit ( Sanitary napkins, inner wears, night dress, soap and the like)
and Medicine kit ( with prescribed medicines for common ailments) along with blankets and lots and lots of water bottles
The affected people were happy because, they were getting enough food from other NGOs and these were things they needed now.
One person said " In a single day, we have come from living in a strong built house to living on road like this, looking for relief package" Yes, nothing can compensate their loss, but we should give everything we can, to make their life better again, instead of blaming the nature or the people for the calamity that has occurred now.

Update #1

Dec 6th 2015 : Today, our volunteers did a tremendous job in distributing the relief material to all the needy people.
The place as such looks like a battlefield , but we are not giving up any time sooner.
Updates :
1. Two teams started to Chennai - 1 from Bangalore, 1 from Coimbatore
2. We started the work in targeted 5 major areas : Group 1. Anakaputhur G2 : Mudichur, G3 Thoraipakkam Orphanage G4 Pallikaranai G5 Kalaingnar Nagar
3. While our Volunteers were in these areas, they not only distributed the Medical, hygiene and Baby kit, but they also helped find the lost families ( Those that didn't have contact with their loved ones for past 5 days)
4. Vadamanapakkam, a small village 15 kms from Cheyyar, gave Rs 36000 hot cash and thats a very special donation, that's because, it was collected from small scale workers and they gave whatever was possible by them to give, they proved that rich or poor, it's the heart that matters, not money. They are the richest people !
5. Suyam Trust, took care of relief and cleaning activities in Vyasarpadi.
6. Sneha Koota Volunteers from Bangalore, helped procure relief materials and they were distributed through Kannada Sangha School, Ayanavaram.
