The Chicago Global Health Alliance is seeking donations to support Liberia's medical and psychological care. Medical doctors, mental health specialists and volunteers will be bringing their expertise to provide training to medical professionals in Liberia. Additionally medical equipment and supplies will be sent to Liberian hospitals in partnership with Project C.U.R.E to provide life saving medical treatment. This is all the more timely, given the recent Ebola outbreak that is stressing their weakened health care system.
At present time, Liberia does not have any urologist actively practicing in the entire country and lacks the medical and surgical equipment to treat urologic patients. Because of the war that ended ten years ago, 50-70% of women were sexually assaulted and 40% of Liberia's population of 4.19 million experience Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. The Ebola crisis has brought new stressful events, which can impact mental health. Currently, there are no Master's or Doctorate level training programs for mental health workers.
Once there, our urologic and mental health team will be conducting trainings for knowledge transfer between US and Liberian health care providers. This in turn will promote sustainable improvements in the health care system.
Chicago Global Health Alliance recently sponsored the ART FOR GLOBAL HEALTH, a gala that took place on September 12, 2014 from 6:30-9:30 pm at Adler School of Professional Psychology. It was a sucessful event but we still need to raise $20,000. Please help us do good by donating to our campaign!

We are doing a Harbor to Hospital Campaign to raise $5,000 to get the $500,000 worth of medical equipment from the shipping docks in Monrovia to the two regional hospitals we are working in this December!

Since November, CGHA airlifted and shipped medical supplies to Liberia thanks to the support of our generous donors. We now have to train their surgeons to provide sustainable urological care to their 4.19 million citizens. We are raising funds to send surgical equipment to three hospitals affiliated with their medical school to allow our American urologists to train their surgeons.
