I'm raising funds to assist with paying for mental health care for my daughter, who recently aged out of medicaid coverage, and needs ongoing counseling due to her father's suicide and other struggles since his death.

Hi, I appreciate anyone who takes the time to stop by here to read my story!
My husband joined the Army at 18, and at the age of 20, he was sent to Iraq as a combat engineer during Desert Storm. He was always a strong patriot, and proud of his service. But, he struggled upon returning home from Iraq.
Our daughter was the apple of his eye! Despite her being so precious to us both, the struggles he was experiencing caused a lot of chaos in our home, and unfortunately, she was witness to some traumatizing things as a small child. Then, when she was 7 years old, he took his own life.
Because of this, she began to struggle with her own mental health...questions related to her dad's service, and his subsequent struggles, have been discussed over the years, but sadly, a lot of it has brought about more questions than answers for her.
We have been in and out of therapy in the years since her dad's death, and it has proven very helpful in many ways. But dealing with grief is ongoing as a child grows up, and so is trauma. Now that she is a young adult, she is going through a time in her life when therapy seems to be more necessary than ever. It is also more expensive than ever.
Since she is no longer a child, she doesn't qualify for medicaid, and putting her on my private insurance is very expensive. She is a very bright young woman, currently enrolled in online college courses and working part time...so she is making great efforts to help herself and be productive. However, her struggles with her mental health sometimes inhibit her ability to be as successful at work and school as she is otherwise capable. She has so much potential; as a mother, it is heartbreaking to watch her struggle and not be financially able to provide her the help she deserves.
I have started this campaign with the hope of raising enough money for the next 3-6 months of therapy sessions. They range anywhere from $150 - $175 per session, and she would benefit from at least twice per week. Our goal is to raise $5,000 to get her through the next three months, and we will go from there.
Anyone who has a heart to help a Veteran's daughter left behind is a hero in my book...and the gratitude we will send back to you is infinite.
