CPAP - More Oxygen, More Sleep for Kit

From Katriel Paige

I just found out I have severe obstructive sleep apnea. This fundraiser is to help with costs for sleep medicine visits, travel costs to and from the sleep center, as well as towards an auto-CPAP with the gear I need.

Update #2

Thank you so much! The goal of 1,100 has been reached, but as stated, these costs not only go towards a CPAP machine but also for the costs to travel to the sleep medicine facility, get cleaning supplies, and so forth.

I will be leaving this fundraiser up until the weekend of 7/9 - 7/11 to account for anyone wishing to donate further for a buffer, any transaction fees, etc. Thanks again!

More Info

For 15 years I have had trouble breathing.

I would often stop breathing, especially during the night, or find myself gasping for air.

Now I am diagnosed with severe sleep apnea, I am trying to make sure that I breathe.

Unfortunately, I do not know right now how much insurance will cover - or what kind of CPAP machine they might prescribe. While the prescription is for an auto-CPAP, even if it is an auto-CPAP machine prescribed, extra tubing, changing masks (especially the nasal pillow kind, shown to enable better retention for people new to CPAPs), and CPAPs with features like humidifiers or heated tubing to make sure that I don't wake up with a bloody nose or worse, especially during winters, are extra costs.

The kind of auto-CPAP I am looking at is the ResMed AirSense 10, with the humidifier, heated tubing, and a P10 nasal pillow mask. You can find them on multiple retailers, including Lofta. If you want an idea of what is included, follow this link to Lofta's bundle

In addition to this, the closest sleep center to me in-network still requires travel, and I do not have a car. This means each time I have to go to Sleep Medicine - and there is at least one more sleep study I would have to do even once CPAP therapy starts - it would cost $100 on top of whatever I would have to pay as my co-pay costs, just to be able to get there and back. Dropping off a home sleep study would be easily $250 - or more.

So I am trying to raise funds to help with these costs.

I am trying to do what I can on my end, but any donations DO help.

Thank you for your time!

Update #1

This has reached 50% already! Thank you! Especially as I have already have been having trouble at work - while my brain fog and focus issues are not entirely due to sleep apnea, being on oxygen therapy has been proven to assist in alleviating brain fog as well as making sure I am not operating for days on de facto sleep deprivation. So I am trying to get the CPAP as soon as possible, to start oxygen therapy as soon as I can to keep any impacts at work at a minimum or alleviated completely.
Please continue spreading the word and boosting if you can!
