Local Students Qualify to Attend Prestigious National Tournament
Oneonta, NY- March 16, 2013
More than seventy students were at Oneonta High School in Oneonta, NY on Friday, March 15 and Saturday, March 16 to participate in Iroquois District tournament. The tournament, one of 109 National Forensic League (NFL) District Tournaments held throughout the country this spring, was the last step to secure a place at the prestigious 2013 National Speech & Debate Tournament in Birmingham, AL during the week of June 16, 2013

About the National Tournament
Nearly 3,000 students will participate in the 2013 NFL National Tournament, billed as the world's largest academic contest. The event draws visitors from across the country and beyond. The National Forensic League National Speech & Debate Tournament marks the capstone of high school speech and debate activities for nearly 120,000 students around the country. Qualifiers compete for more than $200,000 in college scholarships in a variety of speech, debate, and performance events. Final rounds are judged by blue ribbon panels including CEOs, former Cabinet members, stage and screen celebrities, sponsors, and acclaimed community members.
Each year the NCFL sponsors the annual Grand National Tournament on Memorial Day weekend, offering six forensics events and three debate events. The 2013 NCFL Grand National Tournament will feature the top high school students from around the country, competing in drama, speech, and debate events. The rounds of competition will take place May 25 and 26, 2013 in and around Philadelphia.
The 2013 Grand National Tournament was approved by the National Association of Secondary School Principals for its National Advisory List of Student Contest and Activities. The National Catholic Forensics League mission is to encourage and to assist in the development of articulate leaders, through whose skills, truth may be widely spread and become an influence in the life of the nation.
Delaware Academy Central School at Delhi School is a member of the Albany Dioceses, one of 70 dioceses across the nation. It is with great pleasure to announce that the following Delaware Academy students have qualified to compete in the 2013 Grand Tournament being held in Philadelphia, PA over Memorial Day Weekend.

The Grand National Tournament is held at a different site each year. Recent cities have included Washington D.C, Baltimore, Omaha, Chicago, Milwaukee, Boston, Arlington VA, Pittsburgh, and New York City. The competitions have been held at colleges, universities, high schools, government buildings, and hotels.
