Willy Gomez is an 18 year old rising senior, currently attending Theodore Roosevelt High school in Washington DC. He currently races for Them Bammas Racing/DC Bike Academy. He first started riding bikes after his mom bought him his first bike after their family moved from El Salvador to the United States.
His first bike was just for commuting to school and back home. After his teacher, Mr. Shepard, approached him one day as he was unlocking his bike to go home and introduced him to the “Bike Tech” program. Willy has grown a lot through the bike tech program, including learning how to properly maintain and fix bikes. He even got to build his own fixed gear bike in the program using recycled components. He now works as a summer mentor for the program.
His goals are to continue racing and to help elevate cycling.
District Cycling Collective and Zephyrus Bikes are proud to support Willy and his continued race toward cycling excellence.
