Dr. Heather Bergdahl was a driving force at the Anosh Inc. Foundation, where she served as the president. She infused every facet of the organization's development with her unwavering passion and genuine concern.
Known for her meticulous attention to detail, Dr. Heather Bergdahl ensured that each event carried a personal touch that profoundly resonated with the community.
One of the Anosh Inc Foundation's most prominent events, "A Night of Compassion: The Anosh Inc Foundation A Night for Morocco, Libya, and Hawaii Gala," was masterminded by Dr. Heather Bergdahl and her team. This Gala had a profound mission: to raise funds for natural disaster relief efforts in Morocco, Libya, and Hawaii. They were able to raise over $75,000, and Dr. Anosh Ahmed matched it to bring it to a grand total of $150,000.
In September 2023, eastern Libya faced an unprecedented disaster. Storm Daniel, a powerful Mediterranean cyclone, unleashed torrential rains, unleashing catastrophic flooding that ripped through the region.
The downpour, equivalent to eight months of rain in some areas, overwhelmed infrastructure and waterways. Two dams succumbed to the pressure, sending a massive surge of water crashing into towns and cities. The coastal city of Derna, in particular, bore the brunt of the devastation, with a quarter of the town reportedly destroyed.
Homes were destroyed, essential services like water and electricity were disrupted, and critical infrastructure like bridges and roads crumbled.
When the focus shifted to rebuilding and recovery, Dr. Heather Bergdahl worked with the Anosh Foundation as the president and poured her soul into planning an event to help those affected.
In August 2023, paradise turned to ash as wildfires ravaged the Hawaiian island of Maui. The disaster began on August 8th, with fires erupting across the island.
The most destructive fire tore through the historic resort town of Lahaina, located on Maui's western peninsula. Fueled by strong winds and dry conditions, the flames consumed most of the city, leaving behind a wasteland of ash and ruins.
Nearly 3,000 structures, including homes and businesses, were either damaged or destroyed by the fire. While Lahaina suffered the brunt of the disaster, other parts of Maui also witnessed wildfires on a smaller scale.
The island of Hawaii wasn't spared, either. A day later, on August 9th, wildfires ignited, causing damage but less devastation than Maui's.
The Maui wildfires left a deep scar on the island, and Dr. Heather Bergdahl and her team saw that. That is why she supported rebuilding efforts, focusing on creating a fundraiser to help the affected communities recover from this immense tragedy.
Tragically, over 3,000 lives were lost, leaving countless families shattered. Beyond the human cost, the quake damaged or destroyed critical infrastructure, including at least 530 schools.
This disruption to education impacted an estimated 100,000 children. The earthquake affected over 6.6 million people, many of whom lost their homes and livelihoods.
In the aftermath of this disaster, Morocco began a long and challenging recovery journey. International aid organizations poured in support, and the resilience of the Moroccan people shone through as communities joined together to rebuild.
