"I've been running from my testimony for some time now. In May 2010 I was diagnosed with stage 3 colon cancer. I never talked about it with the masses, or distant friends or relatives because I felt like I truly had a death sentence on my head. However, I have been through 2 surgeries, radiation, and chemotherapy. I hid all that from all my friends, loved ones, and again distant friends/relatives. I was scared in my faith and had not understood what my TRUE PLIGHT was in this battle. I wasn't just battling cancer, but together with my testimony of how I beat this thing and how my actual testimony could bring people closer to GOD and inspire others to come out and acknowledge and face their fears. It took a lot of soul searching and many nights going back and forth to say this. I am truly happy with my decision to come out and let the world know my diagnosis because my confidence in GOD lets me know all will be well and shine light to others battling the same condition, but don't have the confidence to come out. I want to create awareness to young adolescents and adults all over the world about colon cancer and CANCER as a whole-be strong in your fight my people- I ask that all my friends share this testimony to get the word out about my social decision to come out AND FIGHT AGAINST CANCER-- TOGETHER WITH PRAYER AND A GENERATED FOCUS I CAN FIGHT AND BEAT THIS. FOR ALL MY FRIENDS DO NOT BE AFRAID I LOVE ALL OF YOU AND I'M CURRENTLY GOING THROUGH CHEMOTHERAPY NOW AND TOLERATING IT A LITTLE BETTER EACH DAY!I LOVE YALL DEARLY AND SAY A SPECIAL PRAYER FOR ME. AND KNOW I AM STILL MY LOVE, AND FUN SELF! This is my testimony I wanted to say to y'all and the world as best I could! Big shoutout to Kamal Biggham, Bilal Joseph, Dre Enabosi, and Aisha Cover, my loving and ever supporting mother, and lastly to my late grandma, Rebececa Williams. Thanks again for all the love and support given. God Bless You All!!!!!!"
Andrew Kelly left this world on November 29, 2013 to be with his Heavenly Father. He is loved and will forever be missed.
-Colon cancer is the second leading cause of cancer-related death in the U.S.
-African Americans are at a higher risk of death and diagnosis of colon cancer.
-Though, colon cancer primarily affects males above the age of 50, it is important that screening is done regularly in order for colon cancer to be found early, when treatment is most effective.
As Drew requested, his loved ones have chosen to continue his plight to spread knowledge and awareness about colon cancer and cancer in general. WE ARE TRYING OUR BEST TO REACH THE MASSES AND WE ASK THAT YOU SPREAD THE WORD WITH US. TOGETHER WE CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE!!
