EAD 2022's Worship Offering will be divided between two organizations, one domestic focused on voting rights and one international organization focused on human rights in the Philippines.
1) Black Voters Matter Capacity Building Institute is dedicated to building community and organizational capacity related to Black voting power.
The organization believes that effective civic engagement includes understanding, respecting, and supporting local infrastructure.
Black voters matter not only on election day and only in major cities but all year and everywhere including rural counties and smaller cities/towns that are often ignored by candidates, elected officials, political parties and the media.
The leadership, talent and commitment demonstrated by Black women in particular must receive recognition and, more importantly, investment in order to flourish and multiply.
2) International Coalition for Human Rights in the Philippines (ICHRP Global) sponsored by the United Church of Canada is a global network of organizations, concerned about the human rights situation in the Philippines and committed to campaign for just and lasting peace in the country.
It aims to inform the international community about the grave human rights situation in the Philippines today.
Coordinated campaigns and actions include:
o Campaigns against violations of civil and political rights of the Filipino people (i.e. Stop the Killings Campaign, Stop Enforced Disappearances, Free All Political Prisoners, etc.)
o Campaigns in furtherance of the people’s economic, social and cultural rights (Land rights, Workers rights, Women’s rights, Children’s rights, Right to abode, Migrant and refugee rights, etc.)
o Campaigns resisting foreign intervention and militarism especially by the US in the Philippines.
o Campaigns supporting the peace negotiations in the Philippines.
