I’m heading to Spain in July 2024 to walk the Camino de Santiago and serve at the Pilgrim House, a safe haven for those who have walked the Camino. Donations will go to airfare, an Airbnb in Santiago, and other expenses.

In 2021, I listened to a series of audio guides from the InterVarsity Study Abroad department that was based on the Camino de Santiago. I had never heard of the Camino before then! I learned that it is a pilgrimage that leads to the supposed burial place of St. James, hence the name Camino de Santiago (Way of St. James). I thought to myself, "Wouldn't it be neat to walk on that one day!" Little did I know that a missions organization named One Collective would eventually give me the chance to do just that! This July, I will be walking 70 miles of the Camino and then serving people who have also walked it by volunteering at the Pilgrim House in Santiago. This house provides space for peregrinos (pilgrims) to rest, do laundry, and debrief their Camino experience. I am excited to not only get to experience the Camino but to also meet and serve people from around the world who have also walked this historic way!
