MEDIA– On September 30, 2016, at a residence on Pennell Road in Middletown Township, a resident and his canine were shot during a home invasion. Pennsylvania State Police notified the Brandywine Valley SPCA’s Animal Protection Officers for assistance in beginning what is now a cruelty case investigation.
The owner was shot once in the abdomen and is receiving medical attention. His female terrier mix, Faith, was shot once in the head and has undergone emergency surgery at West Chester Veterinary Medical Center, emergency veterinary partner of the BVSPCA. The second dog is being cared for by the BVSPCA while the case is being worked by both state officers & humane law officers.
“The dog is in stable condition. She suffered severe trauma to the right eye which will need to be removed.” Said Dr. Robert Gonzalez, Veterinarian at West Chester Veterinary Medical Center, “We will know more after her surgery.”
The Brandywine Valley SPCA has begun a medical fund to aid in covering some of the Faith’s medical expenses, her rehabilitation, and the care of her canine sibling during his stay at the West Chester shelter. One person can make a difference- choose to take action now by sharing and gifting to help support her medical fund.
“As advocates for the humane treatment of animals, it is our duty to protect the animals within our community,” said Adam Lamb, Chief Executive Officer of BVSPCA, “We have two priorities, the first is to continue working with our partners to provide the care Faith desperately needs and the second is to find the shooter & hold him responsible.”
A $1,000 reward is being offered by the BVSPCA for information leading to the arrest of the shooter, please contact Pennsylvania State Police, Media Barracks at 484-840-1000.

Have a little "Faith"
Our girl did incredibly well during surgery. As you can see, unfortunately she did loose her eye, but thanks to our partner at West Chester Vet, she is doing well and has begun her healing process.
Thank you everyone for your support and kind words of healing for Faith. She remains as sweet as pie but will continue to need your help while she walks her new path. Please continue sharing her story and asking friends, family, & coworkers to get involved.
