Help Us Make a Difference: Support Our Fund Drive for Kibera, Nairobi

The Kibera slum in Nairobi, Kenya, is home to over one million people, making it the densest slum in Africa and the second largest in the world. Unfortunately, the Kenyan government does not recognize the residents' right to live there, which means they do not provide essential local infrastructure. This results in a lack of sewage systems, few schools, and even fewer medical facilities.

Crossing Thresholds, the charitable organization we support, has made significant strides in improving conditions in Kibera. They have built four primary schools and one high school, providing nutritious meals (breakfast and lunch) for all students, essential medical services through a registered nurse, and a variety of extracurricular programs including music, dance, technology, sports, urban gardening, and women’s/girls’ empowerment.

This June, my son Nikhil and I will be joining fellow volunteers on a mission trip to serve at these schools. We will engage in various activities, from construction to teaching chess to the children. I will personally lead a session on "Health & Nutrition," during which we will distribute home first aid kits to each child and instruct them on how to use these kits to keep themselves and their families safe and healthy. To keep costs low, we aim to procure these first aid kits locally in Kenya.

We are launching a fund drive to collect $1,500 to purchase these first aid kits. Basic health and safety are challenging for these children, and their lives are incredibly fragile. Your contribution can make a significant difference, and we will update you on our return on how your donations were meaningfully utilized.

Please join us in making a tangible impact on these children's lives. Your support is greatly appreciated.
