From Renting to Owning: Our Legacy Secured
In the past 25 years, FEMA has moved FIVE times into rental spaces, each time we had to move FEMA has paid out-of-pocket from $4000.00 to 11,000.00. We tried to buy a building twice, but the prices were high, the down-payment was 20% and the properties needed at least another $50,000.00 in updates and remodeling. We moved into our current space in October 2011 and spent over $7000.00 to make it our own. Our landlord found out this year that he has a terminal illness and wants to sell us the building at below market value. It's a sad situation, as he is a wonderful landlord, we are deeply moved that he is helping secure FEMA's future in this venture. Your contribution to this campaign will make our school finally have a Home. Thank you for your support!

Today is the DAY! December 18th 10:00 AM we are closing on the purchase of our DOJO! We still need to raise more funds to help with all the costs involved, so please consider donating whatever amount you can, and know you can write that off from your taxes for 2014.

Little did I know when I started martial arts in 1981 with my dear teacher, Dr. Alex Feng, in Berkeley, Calif., that I would be typing on a computer in Minneapolis, MN to fundraise for a building for my very own dojo that has been in existence for the last 25 years!! Well...here we are, and we have 61 people who have helped us thus far. We have 23 days left to raise the remainder of our goal: be a part of our building our future.
