It is with a heavy heart that I share the sad news that one of Maplewood's longest running businesses lost one of its owners. Many of you know Tony & Johanna, the owners of Beacon Jewelers from their 52 years in business here in Maplewood. Johanna, Tony's wife, who was at his side every day, passed away this morning.
Both Tony & Johanna, who are are also my cousins, have recounted countless times over the years that their clientele here in Maplewood and South Orange have been nothing short of amazing. They've set engagement rings for multiple generations of the same family, and feel as close to many of their customers as they do with their own.
If you'd like to contribute to a funeral spray to honor Johanna's memory, please do so. If any additional contributions are collected, they will be donated to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital, one of Johanna's favorite charities. Also, please feel free to include a note in your donation which I will be sure is given to Tony and his family.
