These children have struggled to travel 1,500 miles or more to cross the U.S. border, but their journey did not end here. Approximately 60,000 unaccompanied minors, as young as three were detained at the Mexican border this year includes the origin of Mexico, Guatemala, Honduras, and El Salvador.The number of migrants has significantly tripled since 2010. The reason because they are trapped by economic difficulties, poverty, gangs, drug-related and violence in their home countries and believed that escaping to the U.S. will bring them a better path and brighter future. Now that these children are caught and detained by the Border Patrol officials, they are being kept there until they are sent to one of the military bases. They are wrapped in aluminum foil blankets sleeping on concrete floors behind barbed wire. The amount of time spent in detention centers are unpredictable, sometimes a year, 3 years, or even more.
Currently, Barack Obama is trying to fix the immigration crisis from growing so rapidly. He has pledged to shift resources to the southern border, providing them with more supplies. The White House has also requested to fund $3.7 billion to search for assistance in immigration judges, drone surveillance, medical services, and transportation costs. Along these requirements, they are obligated to follow new policy changes.
How we plan on using the donation money?
We are pleased to hear that President Obama is searching to improve the immigration crisis in many forms, but we would like to bring awareness to each and everyone of you about how we can support and change their regulation and policy by delivering their children safely back to their home countries.
