THE NEW SOUTH WALES RURAL FIRE SERVICE
Volunteer-based firefighting agency that is responsible for the protection of 95% of the land area of New South Wales and Jervis Bay Territory.
The NSW RFS is the primary agency for responding to bushfires in the state.
Cuts in federal funding have left local first responders to carry much of the load themselves this bushfire season.
