Thank you to everyone that has donated so far !

More Info

Every single day a call comes in. Another injured cat or dog, another abandoned cat or dog, A very sick animal in need. When Deb gets those calls she steps up to the plate. If it is an owned animal and the owners cannot afford the vet bill Deb steps up. If the animal needs rescued ... Deb steps up. All of your donations help pay for life saving veterinary care for many animals, Blood work, vaccinations, deworming, spay / neuter. It may pay for boarding if all of the fosters and the prison program is full but Deb feels she must save the animal. Your donations help feed the animals, buy puppy pads, buy mothers milk and bottles. Sometimes hundreds are spent just to make an animal healthy again and sometimes it costs more than that. Deb's dogs is very transparent and is happy to show anyone where their donations go. EVERY SINGLE PENNY DONATED goes towards the care of an animal. Please help her continue that care... they need us. Take a look at the difference made in just ONE  of those lives.......Everyone gave up on her except Deb.

I am going to share stories of 2 more dogs we rescued in the last couple of weeks. We have rescued 8 since the end of May. This is the story of Gus. I received a call from a woman that said her kids found a dog in a field and brought him home. She told me the dog was very skinny. I asked her to meet me with the dog. This poor pup was so emaciated and had a lot of hair loss. At first we were not sure he was going to make it. I held him in my arms and fell instantly in love. He is the sweetest pup you will ever meet. Now after only a couple of weeks he is doing great. The other one is a little yorkie mix we rescued from the dog warden. Her name is Bridgette. She is an amazing little girl. I went to meet her and told them I would take her. She had no hair on her body from fleas. The dog warden's office gave her a good bath and I took a capstar over for them to give to her. They kept her for me for a few days till I could find a place for her. I really appreciated their help. She is a little bundle of joy and she is starting to grow hair back. It looks like peach fuzz. These happy ending stories are what rescue is all about. Mixed in with the joy is also alot of heartache.

Sending a huge hug and thank you to my wonderful friend and expert cat whisperer Sue Hickey. I got a call from Delphos Post Office today that a mama cat and 4 kittens were running out front. One of the kittens had fallen down in the storm grate. I called Sue and asked her to go with me to see if we could get them. After close to 3 hours we finally got them all. It was so hot out there but not one time did Sue say we should give up. We were sweating buckets and exhausted from our efforts but a family of cats is safe and well cared for tonite because of her wonderful and caring heart.

Update #46

I've been sitting here, contemplating a few things..........
I completely understand that our shelters are vital to our community.....I've volunteered at both over the years....and it's extremely important to support them, they save many lives. I go back to the beginning.....when the idea for a pet food pantry first popped into my head.....a mother and her son came into the shelter with their dog.....she and her son were very upset about turning their dog in to the shelter.....when I asked them why, I was told that she could barely feed herself or her children, much less the dog.....and the little boy grabbed his mom's arm and said...."If I don't eat as much, can we keep the dog?" Well, that was an eye opener! No one should ever have to give up their pet because they can't afford to feed them! Ernie's Heart get calls all the time about such situations. Yes, it's important to find forever homes for the shelter pets....but, it's also very important to help keep pets who already have homes....in those homes. I remember an event Ernie's Heart had several years ago....we were struggling to make rent, so we had to skip a distribution and have a fundraiser instead. So many people came in, thinking it was distribution....and it was heartbreaking to have to tell them we weren't open.....out of desperation to try to help them, we had them call or go to the shelters (they've helped us out in between distributions) and it didn't take long until we got a phone call from both shelters asking us to stop sending people to them, they didn't have the extra food to spare. So, the need is real....Ernie's Heart's goal is to keep those family pets with their forever homes. This is turn, helps the shelters so they don't have to take in family pets due to lack of food. EH keeps families from having to make a heartbreaking decision of giving up their pets. I remember helping a lady with some dog food....she was telling me about her dog and how much he meant to her.....then, suddenly, she burst into tears! When I asked what was wrong, she simply said..."Everything is falling apart......except this". Think about that for a minute. Having a place to turn to.....not having to worry about giving your pet something as essential as food.....being able to keep your pet in their already forever home.....is priceless. Ernie's Heart and the shelters all save lives. Can you imagine being that pet for years.....your humans run into rough times....and suddenly you find yourself in a shelter? It's not only heartbreaking for the pet parents.....it's heartbreaking for the pets. And, that's why EH is here.....to keep families and their pets together and out of the already overcrowded shelters. All these lives matter! This is my morning, these are my dogs and I am blessed.

Hey Lima, Ohio friends.... I want you to read this please. THIS is why I beg so much for financial help for Deb's dogs. You see not only does she pay for vetting, food and supplies for the animals brought into rescue but Deb's Dogs also tries so hard to help as many people as she can to be able to keep their pets. Whether it be by feeding them or covering emergency vetting they cannot afford. Some of the most loved pets are owned by people barely getting by. So please donate financially, buy a bag of dog or cat food and drop it at Pet supplies plus. Save your empty litter tubs, save your grocery bags. Donate your old towels and blankets and things most don't think of such as washable puppy pads, cleaning supplies, laundry soap, paper towels etc....HOLD FUNRAISERS THROUGH YOUR WORK, GET LARGE TICKET ITEMS DONATED FROM YOUR WORK FOR RAFFLES, DO A FOOD DRIVE AT YOUR WORK....FOSTER. EVERY ONE OF US CAN HELP IN SOME WAY EVEN IF WE ARE BROKE.
