Donations allow our chapter to reserve the public library community room for our monthly meetings and to offer small grants to reimburse our writers paying fees for residency applications and journal submissions.

Women Who Submit seeks to empower women and non-binary writers by creating physical spaces for sharing information, supporting and encouraging submissions to literary journals, and clarifying the submission and publication process.
Our Westside LA Chapter started in November 2017. Since then, we have met monthly, providing a free space for our members to work and demystify the submission process. Here are some of our members' achievements in the past year:
Awards: Long-Listed for the Fish Publishing 2018 Flash Fiction Prize, Winner of The Iowa Review Award in Nonfiction
Publications: New Flash Fiction Review, The Iowa Review, Prairie Schooner, Hedge Apple, Borrowed Solace, American Chordata, 82 Review
Conferences: attended Tupelo Poetry Conference, presented at HippoCamp 2018, presenting at AWP 2019
Residencies: Anaphora Residency, Vermont Studio Center
With our growing membership, we would like to offer more resources to our members. We wish to raise $250 for the following items:
$90: Allows us to reserve a community room at our public library for three hours. We wish to hold a New Members meeting once every few months in order to accommodate more writers and to hold submission workshops.
$160: Allows us to set-up a Submission Mini-Grant Fund, which we will award to our members to reimburse their personal costs for journal submission fees and residency application fees. By supporting our writers with this financial obstacle, we will encourage our writers to submit more aggressively.
