We are Girls Rock Campaign Boston (GRCB) and we believe that girls and women are meant to be heard! And we need your help to make dreams come true.
GRCB has accomplished amazing things in the past 4 years. We’ve served over 450 girls in our summer programming, launched an after school program, hosted 7 Ladies Rock Camps and built a powerful community of female mentors who build each other up and never tear each other down.
But there’s so much more we want to accomplish.
We need to raise $20,000 to achieve our goals for 2015. Your donation will help us achieve the following:
Expand our after school programming: Club GRCB. While the center of our programmatic work our are summer sessions, we will be holding after school programming in the winter, spring and fall in 2015.
Find a permanent home for GRCB. We want to be able to serve more girls, but we can’t do that in our current space. Its time for us to move to a home that is more accessible and can allow us to expand!
Provide more advanced programming at GRCB. As our organization grows, we are attracting both return participants and girls with advanced skills. We want to provide more programming that will be impactful for girls at all skill levels in 2015.
GRCB’s growth depends on meaningful community outreach and engagement. In 2015 we will increase the participation in GRCB programming and diversify our base of participants and volunteers. With your support we can increase our outreach into schools and other community organizations, build strategic partnerships and create a broader base of support in the greater Boston area.
Your donations help supply our volunteers with the day-to-day necessities and keep them well fed and hydrated throughout the week. Our volunteers are those who put the best interests of the girls first and who understand and fully believe in our mission. Help support our volunteers as they have supported us.
Ensure our ability to hold workshops that are educational, recreational and empowering. As our organization has grown, so have our workshops. In 2014 we added new ones like Media Literacy and Feminism is for Everyone, in addition to old favorites like T-shirt Silkscreening, Songwriting and Intro to DJing. These help our girls express themselves while providing them with positive, self-esteem-building tools.
Supply us with the musical equipment needed to rock out! It is essential that we provide quality equipment to all of the girls and women who attend to keep everyone playing loud and strong all week.
Financial support for all girls. Every year GRCB works with families to ensure that no girl is ever turned away due to the inability to pay full tuition. Your donation will help fund this effort and allow us to continue to expand our community each year.
If you are able to support financially, your tax deductible donation will go towards ensuring GRCB can continue on as a sustainable, year-round organization!
If you can't contribute financially, you can still start a fundraising team through Fundly and help by spreading the word about our campaign with your friends and neighbors and colleagues and ask them to do the same.

You can do this via Facebook, Twitter, e-mail, blogs, phone calls, in-person, or any other form of communication you can think of -- carrier pigeon perhaps? Girls Rock Campaign Boston (GRCB) empowers girls to believe in themselves by providing a supportive community that fosters self-expression, confidence, and collaboration through musical education and performance.
In week-long sessions run by adult female community volunteers, girls gain meaningful life skills of collaboration, problem solving, and positive self-expression in a creative, supportive environment. During each session, girls meet and form bands, learn how to play an instrument (guitar, bass, keyboards, drums, or vocals), compose original songs and perform live to hundreds of family, friends and community members at a prominent local rock venue - all in one week’s time.
GRCB provides daily workshops geared towards self-esteem building, self-reflection and expression every morning. In the process of collaborating with their bands, girls are encouraged to share their ideas as well as listen to each other, think critically, negotiate, and participate in conflict resolution--all essential life skills that help them succeed in their future goals and activities as they mature.
Providing a safe space for girls and women, GRCB hopes to become a key element in fostering leadership and confidence as girls transition into adult lives. Though we at GRCB are excited when girls continue to play their instruments and express themselves through music, our programming is far more based in self-esteem building. The main objective is for a change in behavior in girls who had previously felt held back from pursuing their own goals or interests, whether starting a band, creating a winning science fair project, excelling in a sport, or running for student government.
