In a world where young athletes face immense pressure and challenges, GoodFellas Sports Report (GSR), a 501(c)(3) public charity dedicated to empowering youth through sports, education, and mentorship, stands as a beacon of support, empowering youth through sports, education, and mentorship. We're not just about athletic achievement; we instill values of teamwork, discipline, integrity, and perseverance – qualities that extend beyond the game and help them navigate life's complexities.

In addition, GSR High School Hype, a sister organization, offers an interactive education-through-sports program designed to engage high school students and athletes through various platforms such as TV, radio, magazines, and apparel. The network integrates mental health awareness, partnering with various major mental health organizations, such as Metrocare Services, in Dallas to educate students and schools about recognizing mental health crises and the 988 emergency number.

Right now, GSR is tackling a critical issue: mental health awareness among high school students. We're launching a powerful 988 awareness campaign, shining a light on this often-overlooked lifeline.

What is 988? It's a confidential crisis support line available 24/7 to anyone experiencing mental health distress. A simple three-digit number that can connect those in need with trained counselors, offering hope and guidance when it's needed most.

Our Mission:

To bring this message of hope directly to high schools through:

  • Dynamic Print Campaigns: Eye-catching posters, brochures, and student resources displayed prominently in schools, ensuring the 988 number is visible and accessible.
  • Engaging Live Awareness Programs: Featuring sports legends like former Dallas Cowboy Keith Davis, former Olympic gold medal hurdler Kevin Young, boxing champion Charles Hatley Jr., and the iconic Roy Jones Jr., these events will combine the power of sports with vital mental health education.

Why This Matters: Real-Life Impact

  • The Student Who Found a Lifeline: Imagine a talented young basketball player struggling silently with anxiety. Overwhelmed by the pressure to perform, he considered giving up. But then, he saw a 988 poster in the school hallway. That call to 988 provided the support he desperately needed, connecting him with resources and counseling that helped him regain his footing and find his love for the game again.
  • A Community United in Support: Picture a high school football team grappling with the loss of a teammate. Grief and confusion cast a shadow over the entire school. A 988 awareness program, featuring a former NFL player sharing his own struggles and triumphs, creates a safe space for students to open up, seek help, and support one another.
