Thank you so much for visiting my fundraising page. I began traveling to Haiti during the summer of 2016, serving on a one week medical mission trip. I fell in love with the people I met there and the experiences I had, and vowed to return back as quickly as possible. I was fortunate enough to be accepted to their intern program last summer, where I spent almost three weeks assisting with various jobs including Ke Pou Timoun summer camp and maternal health care. I get to go back AGAIN this spring, and would appreciate any support that you would be willing to give (financially or otherwise)! Though my trips began as "mission work," they feel like so much more now. I am not just returning to serve - I am returning to some of my favorite people (both American AND Haitian) and getting to be back in my favorite place, even if only for a short period of time. The fact that I get to be a part of serving there is just icing on the cake.
GREAT question - I like to ask that a lot too, because it's important to know that your money is truly going to the people it is intended to serve. About $1,378+tax/fees will be used for my airfare, which involves round trip flights that will fly from Houston to Florida, then from Florida to Haiti. The remaining $1,180 goes to LiveBeyond as my mission trip payment. This money is contributing to LiveBeyond's income as a whole - paying for medical care, food distribution, base management, and even payroll for both Haitian and American staff.
