Hello, my name is Manuel. The reason for this fundraiser is to cover my wife's outstanding medical bills.
On April 28th, she arrived at intensive care for severe diabetic sepsis and pancreatitis. Her triglycerides were over 1500 and her glucose over 400. She was in intensive care for a full week in a coma. Upon leaving therapy, she was admitted to the general medicine department. She was discharged with little medication since the hospital pharmacy didn't have any at the time. They had to buy it from an outside pharmacy. After 2 weeks at home and taking medication, she experienced abdominal pain, which took her to the emergency room, where she was hospitalized for a month. Blood tests were performed on her blood levels, but they couldn't find what was causing the pain. The doctors determined it was nerve damage from the pancreatitis, and so she was sent home again. I managed to speak with the hospital's management and social work department to get time to pay for her medical expenses and cover 2 tests and a surgical procedure that she needs. My wife's work insurance only covered 15% of the expenses, and I have to cover the remaining 85%. Of that, I have to cover three days of intensive care, which cost $62,705 each.
Twenty days of hospitalization cost $11,919 each.
An MRI cost $3,853.
An endoscopy cost $4,536.
Surgery cost $38,830.
Psychological therapy cost $1,531.
And the necessary medications, which range from $200 to $2,700.
In addition, I have pending household expenses, since medical expenses have consumed most of our income. If you could help, my wife, my 5-year-old son, and I, we would be grateful.
