Hope Renovations - Help Us Change Lives!

Did you know that almost 65% of low-wage jobs in North Carolina are filled by women?

That over-representation is part of the reason that NC women earn a dismal 81 cents to a man's dollar.  

But in construction, it's a lot different - women earn 97 cents to a man's dollar... the smallest gap of any industry in the country.

Yet only 3% of construction jobs are filled by women.

We want to change that.  Our industry-recognized pre-apprenticeship trades training program will prepare unemployed and underemployed women to seek careers in the construction industry.  We will provide them with the skills, the confidence and the support they need to land jobs that will allow them to support their families.

But the good work doesn't stop there.

Successful pre-apprenticeship programs have one thing in common: opportunities for on-the-job training.  And our OTJ opportunities will be extra special... because they'll serve older adults in our communities.

Our crews and trainees will carry out repairs and renovations in the homes of older adults who are aging-in-place - a term that means "staying in your own home your whole life".  It's the goal of almost 90% of older adults, but with the current construction boom, actually getting homes repaired or upfitted in order to be safe and comfortable can be very hard... long waits, high priced quotes, not knowing who to trust... 

We want to change that, too!  Hope Renovations will offer small to mid-sized repairs and renovations at affordable prices to older adults, no matter their income.  Because ALL people deserve to grow old safely, comfortably and happily.

So how will your donation help us?

We want to launch our first cohort of trainees and our first renovation jobs in early 2019.  But we need your help to get there!  Your donations will go toward curriculum accreditation, renting and upfitting space, equipment purchase, and operational costs.  And even though we're 501(c)3 pending, your donations are tax deductible!  We will email you a receipt you can use at tax time.  Please note that if you prefer to donate by check, please make it payable to Hope Renovations, and mail to: Hope Renovations, 3807 NC Hwy 54 West, Chapel Hill, NC 27516

Within a few years, we believe Hope Renovations will expand to include all of North Carolina.  And we anticipate that one day soon, we'll be doing this work all over the country.
