In June, Human Solidarity in Yemen raised $8,000 internally and through its Fundly web site. This allowed us to meet our June goal of food, medicine and cash assistance in Sana’a and Ibb province. I have attached some photos of one of the cash distrubition centers in rural Ibb, central Yemen.
This latest round of distribution covered direct unconditional cash distribution for 350 households; 30 teachers, and 12 university students in Ibb. Some of the beneficiaries are displaced from war zones in Taiz and Hodeidah. We have also supported at least 10 patients by cost-sharing the expenses of treatment in private hospitals. Food baskets were distributed to 50 displaced and poor householders in Sanaa city. We also drew smiles on the faces of 13 girls and 18 boys living in Sanaa city by purchasing new clothes for celebration of the Eid holiday.
All the above was done by 25 June
Funds will go directly to one of the founders of Human Solidarity in Yemen, noted journalist, Mohammed Al-Asaadi, and will be used for food and medical supplies for Yemenis who are beyond the reach of traditional international relief programs. The BBC recently wrote about Mohammed and his fellow activists and the human tragedy unfolding in Yemen.
