In 1995, Dolly Parton started Dolly Parton's Imagination Library to foster a love of reading in young children and insure that families had access to children's books regardless of their income. United Way of the Piedmont brought Imagination Library to Spartanburg, Cherokee, and Union Counties as part of the organization's focus on early childhood education. Through the program, children ages birth to five receive a new, age-appropriate book every month. Imagination Library removes the greatest barrier to childhood reading: access to books.
With the growth of our community, so too has UWP's Imagination, and we need your help to insure every child in our community has access to books!
For just $30 you can provide books for an entire year to a child. Why stop there? For just $150 you can provide books for a child from the moment they are born until they are ready to go to kindergarten!
Our goal is to be able to sponsor 500 new children in Imagination Library. That's $15,000!
