This is the story of how I was selected to present my capstone research during the Research Session at the European Network on Cultural Management and Policy's Annual Conference in Brussels in Sept (& how you can help!)

Someone wise once told me that the worst someone can say is "no." So when the Director of the AMGT program told me to submit my capstone topic on Business Improvement Districts to the ENCATC 8th Annual Research Session on Cultural Policy, I practically jumped at the chance. "Why not?" I thought, as I edited and re-edited my abstract to perfection. "What's the chance they would even select me?
After not hearing back for a few weeks, imagine my surprise this Monday morning when I opened an acceptance email from ENCATC saying that I had been chosen to present during their conference. I was ecstatic. I was terrified. But mostly, I just started to scream incoherently (I'm sure my neighbors did not enjoy this.)
After the initial shock wore off — "you want me? are you sure?" — I realized that the next step in my journey to Brussels was to secure registration for the conference, lock in a plane ticket, and get to re-editing my capstone paper — the horror! It seems as thought this capstone topic was not quite done with me yet.
And, that, my dear friends and family, is where you come in: I humbly ask for monetary donations to help send me on my way to Brussels for this one-in-a-lifetime opportunity!
Airfare and lodging are estimated; any food costs are totally up in the air as the exchange rate of dollars to euros completely depends on what it is in September!
Any help is appreciated! I am so excited to present my findings and represent Mason and the Arts Management program on an international stage.
Thanks,
Helen

These heart-shaped cookies are for all of the kind souls who have given from their hearts over the past few months! Special thanks to those who have given in the past few days — these men and women have decided to give from their hearts on the basis of my story alone. The world is a kind place, and I am forever grateful for it.

I am so grateful to the love everyone has shown this summer... a little under halfway raised! I'll be in Brussels in a little over a month, presenting my little heart out — super nervous, super scared, but so excited. Take a moment and donate, share, or send a little word of hope my way!

Feels more like Autumn today than it does Summer... what a relief! But that also means that the Cultural Policy conference is less than SIX WEEKS away! 10% of my goal has been reached already due to the support of some incredible people. Can you help spread the news and raise the other 90%? Take a minute and share, or donate if able!
