To anyone here, thank you. Even just for clicking to learn more. Yes - Nonpareil Institute is a 501c3. Also, this is Peter. He'd just moved to Texas. Holding my son. He used to worry he'd be a bad role model to kids. Within weeks at NonPareil Institute his attitude changed. I so badly want to continue to see young adults like him experience that shift in themselves.
Kaitlin here!! As you know, 3 of my siblings live with cognitive disabilities. My brother found a new life at NonPareil Institute Houston. He loves gaming, and is thriving as he learns coding in a space designed for adults with autism. COVID forced them to go virtual. Peter regressed. Now, they're back, but COVID cost them fundraising opportunities. Help me support my brother's peers by donating to cover the costs not included in tuition. Maybe we can even help cover tuition for families struggling because of COVID. 1 in 54 kids are now diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder (CDC). Once they age out of school-provided support, they often still have growth/learning left. This program started in Texas. Now, 60+ cities want it. The need is massive. 85% of adults with autism are unemployed/under-employed. Tech industry has one of the lowest unemployment rates. Even COVID barely hurt their jobs, as most can be done remote. That means NonPareil has, and can continue to, create employment opportunities for students even if they aren't ready to enter a physical workplace. They teach the skills. They help students bloom. Before, Peter spent 99% of his time alone in his room. Now, his councilor calls him "the life of the party". He lives on his own, has doubled his work hours...he's borderline unrecognizable - in the best way. (p.s. Yes, they're 501c3!)
Adults with Autism working toward their own amazing future, nonPareil provides technical and work place readiness training for adults with autism. Join the fun!
Like all of you, we are looking ahead and planning toward the full reopening of our communities. nonPareil remains focused on the mission of Building Better Futures for Adults with Autism as we prepare to reopen our training sites.
All nonPareil training sites reopened on June 1st, on a very limited basis with an eye toward the health and safety of our students and staff, social distancing, impactful learning and understanding for our students and families. Our phased reopening will continue to adhere to state guidelines as well as CDC recommendations.
During this time, adjusting swiftly to stay-at-home orders has been a challenge. We are glad that the majority of our students were able to adapt to the online teaching format. This is a significant win for our students toward further independence and work-readiness. However, I think we can all agree that our students benefit the most from nonPareil by being onsite, learning and working together with their peers in the rich learning environment that nonPareil provides.
Some of the nonPareil students were understandably more impacted by the change than others – and this is where YOU can help.
