You could not meet a sweeter girl than Lilly or a more devoted mother than Kathy. Over the past eight years they have faced more challenges – and have overcome them – than most of us will see in a lifetime. Lilly was born with Cystic Fibrosis, a devastating genetic disease that affects the lungs and digestive system. With this comes ongoing health struggles and unique daily challenges that impact the whole family. From daily medicines to therapy to a special diet, Lilly’s days are anything but typical. However, she does not let this disease define her, nor did Kathy and her father, Daryn. Lilly tackles life with such sweetness and enthusiasm, and as a family they kept their adventurous spirit, exploring the world and making the most out of every day. On December 18, 2015, the family experienced a tragic event. Daryn was in a fatal car accident. At the time, he had been working at the West Virginia School of Osteopathic Medicine teaching and focusing on CF research – to find a cure for his daughter. With this loss, Kathy and Lilly will now face the world and the challenges of CF alone. This means taking on existing and new expenses, and transitioning their life in a way to manage all of Lilly’s needs and those of any household. The graduate students of the Sports Administration program at Ohio University join OhioHealth and Race for a Reason to honor Daryn and support Kathy and Lilly through this difficult time. Your donations will help alleviate the challenges of the care and medical coverage Lilly needs on a daily basis, as well as help ensure they have the means they need for her future. Lilly and her father shared a very special bond - we ask you to help us make a true difference in her life by contributing to Lilly and Kathy. Thank you so much for your consideration.
