Lion Heart Challenge - Raising Awareness for Meningitis

The goal of the Delt Lion Heart Challenge is to raise as much awareness as possible for Meningitis. Every college student, friend, family member, and person should know the symptoms, and how dangerous this disease is if not treated right away.

In May of 2013 a brother of ours named Alex Flatley was diagnosed with Meningoencephalitis and was already Septic when he arrived at the hospital just 2 days after getting an initial fever. The doctors thought he initially just had the flu. After suffering through 2 comas and a seizure, he is still recovering today, but made it his goal to make a difference and to help raise awareness and money for this disease. We hope to help at least one less person suffer from Meningitis.

Symptoms of this Disease:

-High Fever-Severe Persistent Headaches-Light Sensitivity-Vomiting and Nausea-Stiff Neck-Confused/Disoriented-Back Pain-Skin Rashes-Seizure

If you see a friend or yourself suffer from any of these sudden onset of symptoms, get them to or have someone take you to an emergency room immediately. If it is Meningitis, urgent treatment is critical. If diagnosed early and treated properly, most people can make a full recovery.

Why Lion Heart?

The reason it is called Delt's Lion Heart Challenge is because before Alex Flatley's father passed away he told him that he had the Heart of a Lion, and even through the hardest situations, to be strong and not give up. 

How Will We Raise Money?

We will be raising money for the Meningitis Foundation in several ways. The first is through t-shirt sales, where 100% of the profits will be donated to the Meningitis Foundation of America. The link to buy the t-shirts will be provided on this page on April 18 and will be open until May 18, please spread this link with everyone you may know.

This Facebook page will also have a Fundly donation link available so that any person can donate to this cause. Our goal is to raise $15,000, and with the Fundly account you will be able to see where we are at in our goal.

FINALLY:

We want to ask this campus and this country if they have the heart of a lion! Let's see if we can come together as a community and step up to the plate and put an end to this horrible disease. Our goal is to help as many people as we can and raise at least $15,000 to go to the Meningitis Foundation of America. We are trying to raise as much awareness about this disease so no one has to suffer from the horrible side effects. We are hoping all of America comes together to help eradicate this disease.
