To all of our fabulous supporters,
We are beyond excited to announce that we have raised a total of $1,810 to purchase art supplies and activities for the little troopers out there!! It's well beyond our goal and we couldn't have done it without you. You have truly made a difference and we can't thank you enough. We know there are so many great causes so we are especially appreciative of your help.
An amazing part of this campaign is seeing what community can do. We have had people from other countries and states donating and asking how they can help. Amazing!
Thank you again. Have a great week!
All our best,
Molly, Eric, Gabe and McKenna

First of all, thank you so much for reading our story.
Inspiration for the Art Bags came during my daughter's stay in Children's hospital-Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) when she was 3 years old. She arrived at the hospital via Flight for Life. She was hooked up to a BIPAP, which forced air mixed with oxygen into her partially collapsing lungs. I can't even remember everything she was hooked up to, I just wanted to take her home.
While there, she wasn't allowed to eat or drink. She couldn't even get out of bed. She never complained once. She was our little trooper. Her twin brother couldn't come to visit her. One day, we found him asleep in her bed at home.
When she started feeling better, all she wanted to do was read and color (oh, and watch the Bee Movie!). We didn't have anything with us however we are able to get a few used art supplies from the hospital.
My daughter came home after 8 days. Many children don't get the chance to ever be truly done with the hospital and face months and even years of treatment. Siblings can also feel the affects from all the life changes, confusion and stress.
Our goal is to provide bags filled with various art supplies and activities to give critically ill children and their siblings (ages 3-15) a chance to feel like kids. We want to give them a way to express themselves during the biggest fight of their lives.
My family started volunteering to put bags together. My twins, now 6, select the perfect items for each bag. My sister-in-law graciously makes the cinch sacks out of re-purposed materials. Our parents, family and friends have generously donated art supplies. We are beyond grateful for their support.
We are currently working with the amazing, There With Care. There with Care provides a myriad of services to families with critically ill children at 12 hospitals across Colorado. Hospitals and social workers refer families for services. There with Care then identifies the main stresses on a family and provides related support.
You can donate on this site or you can make a tax deductible donation directly to There with Care by visiting: https://secure.acceptiva.com/?cst=0d0857. Please go to the Tribute Information and in the Additional Information section type Art Care Bags. 100% of your donation will go to the art bag program if you use this link!
