For all the non-Facebook people, this is a screenshot from video I shot today. I ran to Monica's last chemo session, officially cracking the 300 mile mark. Final total is 300.27. It been one heck of a summer. I never thought I could do this. I'm sure Monica at times didn't think she could do this. But she crushed this. I am so proud of her. And I am so grateful to all of you. Words can't express it. Thank you for your donations, your support....you are all amazing. Much love to y'all. My legs are taking a break tomorrow!

See that beautiful lady up there? That's my sister, Monica Buchanico Church. Some of you already know her, her devoted husband Chris, and her awesome kids, Chris and Juliana.
Earlier this year, Monica was let go from her job. About a month or so after that, a cancerous lump was discovered in her breast. She had a successful surgery (hooray!). However, she still needs to get eight rounds of aggressive chemotherapy, then radiation, then hormone therapy.
Of course, we were all shocked by the news. Grateful for the early detection, but somber at the notion of Monica having to go through the cancer treatment trifecta.
Monica started chemotherapy this week. She is staying positive, always the fighter, which is fantastic. And everyone has been so supportive so far. But I can't help feeling helpless watching the physical and emotional toll this takes on her.
Here's where I come in. What can I do? How can I sacrifice time, energy and physical strength while she goes through this process? What can I do that exhausts me, pains me, challenges me mentally and physically? The only solution was this - run. Run farther and often, more than you ever have before. The plan is 275 miles in 100 days - from Sunday June 12 (the day before Monica's first treatment) to September 19, the day of her last treatment.
I know this is absolutely nothing compared to chemotherapy, but I wanted to share a challenge with her, and also help her in the process. This is where YOU come in....
As some of you know, Chris is the fine proprietor of Christopher Charles Jewelry (148 Haddon Ave, Haddon Twp NJ - buy stuff!). Due to the costs of being a small business owner, Monica handled the health insurance for herself, Chris and the kids. Now that Monica lost her job, the family has to pay out of pocket for health insurance for the whole family...which includes all of her cancer treatment.
So if you're game, how about I run and you donate? Donate by miles ran, a flat amount, whatever you can spare. It is all greatly appreciated.

I'M UPPING THE ANTE.
Monica is doing great - only two chemo treatments to go! Unfortunately, we've hit a bit of a delay. Because of Labor Day, Monica's treatment has been pushed back a few days from Monday to Thursday. Which means her last day of treatment should be Sept. 22. What does that mean? I'M GOING TO 300. Since I'm going the extra mile (or 25) I hope that we can pass our original goal of $10,000. This is the sweaty selfie of a girl who has passed the 200 mile mark. 203.21 miles in 67 days. 32 to go, and I'm planning on crushing it....just like Monica has been crushing it all summer.

We are in Week 3, and as you can see, Monica is being her ever fabulous self (along with the fabulous offspring!) and my legs are still treating me well.
