Miriam Hacksaw (she/they) is a queer Malayali-American fiddler, banjoist and rhythm bones player from the Pacific Northwest. She has been compiling original tunes and songs written on mountains, at occupations, in squats and punk houses to bring marginalized perspectives into the American Folk Tradition. These songs revolve around tales of small woodland animals committing petty crimes in the name of collective liberation.
This fundraiser will support the sound engineering, studio time, recording labor, post production/mixing/mastering and album artwork.
Miriam currently works as a studio musician, touring performer, bike courier and music teacher. Despite balancing four jobs, she barely makes enough to pay rent. Fundraising is a way to make sure that creative compromises are not made due to lack of resources. The goal is to record music that sounds the way we hear it live!
