My Father's Shirts--A project about my father's journey into Alzheimer's. I've been sharing the images and words on social media over the last 4 years. I'm self-publishing a book due out in November 2021.

Hard to believe that the Covid that mandated all this PPE is slinking out the door. But, time flies.
Because time flies and I want to be sure to get everyone's contribution to the book recognized--that is, mention in the book, percentage of donation to Alzheimer's Association--I'm EXTENDING THE DEADLINE from June 5 to FRIDAY, JUNE 18. I'm doing a solstice/Father's Day marathon live stream on Sunday 6/20 and I'll announce the total then.
And start writing the thank you notes to all donors at the $50 level and above. I'm designing a special card to acknowledge your participation in this project.
IF YOU'VE ALREADY DONATED--THANKS SO MUCH!
IF YOU HAVE YET TO DONATE, OR IF YOU WOULD PASS THE WORD TO FRIENDS, NOW IS THE TIME.
All best wishes to you.

was born and raised on my Instagram feed. For over three years I've posted photographs of and about Dad accompanied by discursive texts about my interactions with him, in the present and over the six decades we've known each other.
The most relevant posts date back to November 28, 2017. You can narrow down to the hashtags #myfamilymyself #myfathersshirts #endalz and #mfsthebook if you'd prefer not to hack through the underbrush of my Instagram existence.

We are one-quarter of the way to our goal, which feels amazing. Thanks to all who have contributed. I am eager to hear from more of you. The target is $25,000 by June 5, which is a little over a month away. If you or someone you know would like to help My Father's Shirts become a reality, please join the growing list of supporters.

Wow. In the parlance of snow drifts, sailboats, and loose napkins on the picnic table, I am blown away. In the last fortnight 25 individuals have donated nearly $1,500 toward publication of the book. This more than triples the number of contributors to My Father's Shirts through Fundly, and I am so grateful. My hand to my heart. Thank you.

Only Two Copies of the Shirt Pocket Square edition (5 copies total) remain unclaimed. This is the hardcover, slipcase edition bound in cotton Brooks Brothers shirt fabric, with a breast pocket containing a custom handkerchief and a special photographic print.
Also, look for news about an exciting collaboration I'm building with the Alzheimer's Association.
Finally, I'm eager to see the design prototypes Franny is producing with the first set of images for the book.
And I'm seeing Dad for breakfast Sunday morning. Life can be good, right?

Great news! I've signed Franny Fuller to be the project designer. (Sounds like a baseball announcement, doesn't it?)

Please be aware that there are a handful of fraudulent fund-seekers riding the My Father's Shirts coattails. Please be sure that you are only interacting with the one that has my name on it. The others just aren't My Father's Shirts.
I am working with Fundly to eliminate this problem.
Best wishes,
George

Check this! An anonymous donor has signed on at the Golden Fleece Society level! This donation allows me to bring on a designer and get things moving towards realization. Dad gives it a big thumb up.
Many thanks, anonymous donor! I know you know the true meaning of the Golden Fleece.

I've been talking with designers and really getting into the idea of binding a special A-Z (26 copies) edition of My Father's Shirts using fabric from Dad's actual shirts! And do maybe six extra-special books with a shirt pocket containing a little bonus printed object.
See funding levels now in place. Gifts of $50 and above will be acknowledged in the book. I will mail you a signed copy of the finished softcover edition of the book and a special MFS "thank you" card as well.
I can hardly wait to get started. I'm deciding on a designer this week, before I get my second vaccination shot on Thursday.
Also, please note that I will donate a percentage of pre-publication funds raised (up to a total of $2500) to the Alzheimer's Association to support their vision of a world without Alzheimer's and all other dementia.

I'm contacting designers and printers to get things moving. November will be here all too soon (and not soon enough!).
