Recently, my 2000 Dodge Grand Caravan has been giving me several issues. Everything from dry rotting tires that lose air, to fuel issues, to no power steering, to oil leaks, to the serpentine being eaten and torn (I'm on belt #6 now) it has surely been a handful. With it's issues, this van has remained my daily driver (and I praise God that it still gets me to and from). My work commute is 35 miles and takes anywhere from 45 to 70 minutes which puts a heavy load on the van in it's current state. As of current, we've been having to replace the serpentine belt about every week just to keep the van running and not over heating.
For those who are curious, work has been done on the van with the help of my dad and brother in an attempt to fix some of the issues. We have replaced the power steering pump and pulley twice. After the first replacement, the pump had seized quickly and the pulley broke as well within the first few days. The power steering leak is still present with the second pump and pulley that was put on. We have also replaced the crank pulley and the tensioner (and pulley) in attempt to fix the serpentine belt issues. The belt is still being torn. The issue with fuel is that the engine stops receiving full when the tank goes below a quarter tank and the fuel leaks when it is above 3 quarters. It is believed that a new fuel pump and fuel filler neck hose will solve both of those issues.
