Our Story
Last year I started an after school program aimed at giving my students voice and the opportunity to make their school a better place. We mentored freshman, translated for parents, mediated disputes, and raised school spirit. Because of the success of my program, school administration has asked me to teach a college level leadership seminar, allowing my students to improve their capacity to create positive change.
Our Classroom
My classroom for the past 2 years was an excellent space for teaching algebra. With personal desks for individual practice and ample room for the exploration of math, students excelled.
Unfortunately, I will be losing this classroom to a new math teacher next year, and my ambassadors and I will be housed in a place with far less amenities and accommodations. This is where you come in.
Our Vision
The transition to this new space will be difficult, but we have a vision and are willing to work toward it. I hope you can help us gather the resources necessary to make it a reality.
I see a collaborative and cooperative space where my students can discuss college level texts on team dynamics and work together to plan school improvement projects. A conference table and a set of bean bag chairs would help to facilitate this need.
I see a productive room where my students can learn to manage both their personal and professional ‘To-Do’ lists, and gain an understanding of what it means to meet a deadline. I plan to use special whiteboard paint to transform my walls into a canvas where my students can organize their projects and their passions
I see a group of students unique in their dispositions but united in their cause to make their school a better place. They need to be immediately recognizable for what they are and the work that they are doing. To this end I need a set of t-shirts to distinguish them; no matter where they go, people will know they are an Ambassador.
