Help Me Rebuild My Life

Hello, everyone. My name is Ananda Peiris, and I’m reaching out to share my story and seek your support.

I am a quadriplegic on a ventilator, living in a nursing home. Life has been incredibly challenging since I lost my mother to COVID-19 in 2021. She was my biggest support, and since her passing, I’ve felt isolated and alone.

Because I live in a nursing home, I only receive $25 a month from SSI, which isn’t nearly enough to cover my basic needs. I often struggle to pay for my phone bill and buy clothes for my medical appointments. These expenses may seem small, but they mean a lot to me in maintaining my dignity and connection to the outside world.

I became paralyzed as a result of gun violence, which has added to the difficulties I face daily. Despite these challenges, I’m determined to keep moving forward and improve my situation, but I need help to get there.

If you can, I would be incredibly grateful for any support you can provide, whether it's financial assistance or simply sharing my story. Your kindness means the world to me and will help me regain a sense of normalcy in my life. Thank you for taking the time to read this.

With gratitude,

Ananda Peiris
