My wife has had Type 1 Diabetes since she was six years old, she is now 31, and may be considered for a trial that is closer to curing T1D. We are in need of funding for travel to appointments across the country.

My wife was six years old when she was first diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes, she is now 31 and may be considered for a trial for a cure. However, the doctors who may be able to perform the "cure" are on the other side of the country, and due to the economic state travel is a little on the harder side for us.
After a recent study in China a 59 year old man has been able to go without the need of insulin and is seemingly cured of his Type 2 Diabetes. This treatment for her would be amazing and she is still young enough to be able to enjoy the finer things in life, it would be amazing for her to be able to experience them without the need of being constantly monitored or the worry of if her devices will fail if we are too far away from home.
Type 1 Diabetes has taken a toll on her body over the years from tingling in her hands and feet, weakness in her muscles, and the inability to eat at times, to agonizing seizures. Any "normal" person in her position I feel would be unable to function but, she gets up every day and does the best she can to make a living for our family to make ends meet all while managing her insulin intake, glucose numbers, and the multiple devises it takes to help manage it all.
Unfortunately all of the hard work we've been doing is still not enough to get us to where we need to be in order to see the providers that would be able to give her the life she deserves. With this funding we will be able to travel cross-country and possibly be a bigger part in the cure for Type 1 and 2 Diabetes here in America. I'm sure our 12 year old son would greatly appreciate the opportunity to travel and learn about what the endocrinologists can do with modern technology and be a witness to history in the making.
