When we were elected four years ago, years of neglect had taken their toll on our schools. We have come so far in a few short years! This is a critical time in our turnaround agenda and we need your help to keep it going! Here are just a few of our accomplishments:
Stopped a $5 million payout to a politically connected contractor
Established anti-nepotism and anti-cronyism policies
Providing a laptop for EVERY student, beginning with Proviso East in January of 2019
All board meetings are now live streamed and recorded for the entire public
Parent involvement has skyrocketed - at East, parent conferences tripled last year, and more than 2,200 families have signed the District’s new parent compact to support their children's education
Freshman academies have increased our freshman on track to graduate from 55% to 73%
PMSA is now ranked 8th in the state and has been named a blue ribbon school
Purchased $1 million in new books to replace badly outdated materials
Achieving a 1:1 computer/student ratio to support cutting edge learning opportunities
Partnerships with local elementary schools to create a seamless education plan for our students
Proviso East is one of 10 pilot Marzano Academies, with comprehensive and personalized lesson plans for all students
Created a $77 million fund without raising taxes to cover the costs of physical updates to all three schools so that they can have the learning spaces they so badly need.
Focus on career academies prepares our students for college or a career in the trades.
There is too much at stake to go back to zero and undo all the progress we have made for our students. Join us and let's work together to ensure our schools are all they can be, for Proviso East, Proviso West and PMSA.
