Hello, my name is James, and I want to share my story with you. I am a 45-year-old single dog father living in Pinellas Park, FL, and I have been on a challenging journey for quite some time. Like many, I’ve faced struggles that have tested my strength and resilience. I’ve submitted several disability applications over the years, hoping to secure the support I desperately need to avoid becoming homeless. The weight of stress, panic attacks, anxiety, PTSD, and depression—rooted in childhood trauma—often feels overwhelming. Additionally, I deal with persistent back and neck pain from car accidents and a difficult past marked by domestic violence, which has made it hard for me to keep a job.

It’s been over two years since I began waiting for a decision on my disability applications, a process that has been incredibly frustrating as I strive to provide for myself and my dog. In July, I experienced a mini-stroke, which led to hospitalization and revealed new health issues, further complicating my situation. I lost my job because my health took a turn for the worse, and since then, I’ve made it my daily mission to find a new job that fits my abilities as I await support from Social Security.

Unfortunately, the recent impact of two major hurricanes has added even more financial strain to my life. Each day feels like a struggle to keep my head above water, and I’m grateful for the little things that keep me going. With no close friends or family to turn to, I mostly navigate these tough times alone.

If there’s any way you can help me during this difficult period, I would be sincerely appreciative. Even assistance for the next 3 to 6 months could make a world of difference as I work to stand on my own again. My monthly rent is $2,150, and utilities typically cost $1,300. Thank you for taking the time to read my story; it means a lot to me.
