All the Best People!
Thank You!
Medinah Spencer has always been first.
On April 26th,1996 she was the first born of a set of twins. Being the outgoing, gregarious girl she is—she’s usually the first to say “Hi” and as a student-athlete, is the first in her family to get a full track and field scholarship to South Plains College in Levelland, TX. This college belongs to the Western Junior College Athletic Conference and is also part of the National Junior College Athletic Association.
But to get there, Medinah is gonna need our help…
Medinah is going to need airfare for herself and her Mom to fly her out to get established at Medinah’s new dorm out there in Levelland, TX and in addition to that, our girl needs supplies: a new computer and books for school. And all it takes is a donation—whatever you can give to help a girl stay in first place. Remember this is all about an academic future that got created as a result of one girl’s athletic past people—let me recap:
Remember back a few years ago when Medinah was a member of not one, but two 800-meter relay teams that have won state titles for Milford Mill?—First as a sophomore in the indoor season and then as a junior in the outdoor season. Medinah was encouraged as a heptathlete but hit her stride as an athlete in the 100m Hurdle, 400m hurdle, 4X2 relay and the 4X4 relay.
As a senior, Medinah opened her indoor track season snatching first place in the 300-meter dash (42.7 seconds) and second place in the 60-meter hurdles (9.2) at the Coach O High School Invitational at University of Maryland Eastern Shore. In the 60-meter hurdles, her second-place time automatically qualified her for the New Balance National Championships.
Her fastest time for the 100m Hurdle was 14.41 and at the New Balance Nationals held in New York she had the fastest leg in the 4X4 relay (56.71) which allowed her team to place 3rd in the nation.
In November, Medinah received a certificate of recognition by the Baltimore County Public Schools Board of Education for outstanding achievement and contributions. Medinah’s determined focus, dedication and ambition have gotten her to this point but she needs us if she is to continue to win…
To win, we need your donation! Your gift will get her to school and give her a leg up on a promising beginning to all of her her academic and athletic endeavors—and to do that we urgently need your contribution to see Medinah and her Mom off to Levelland, TX to get Medinah to college. A heartfelt “THANK YOU!!!” go all out to all of you who were part of the original grassroots effort but we’ve got further West to go—spread the word to your friends and family and let’s make this girl’s future happen one dollar at a time!
