Welcome to Roadkill Art where you can help put a nice juicy venison steak or burger on someones plate. Donations go to the production of the Roadkill Art reality show pilot episode, where we bring to light how roadkill can safely be consumed. Many people utilize roadkill for food but there are many more that have never considered the notion. The series features families skilled in finding, processing and cooking game meat happy to share there their skills if it leads to helping keep anyone deprived of having meat.
Hi my name is Janet Arneau, the creator and producer of Roadkill Art, an unscripted survivor television series about families that specialize in collecting fresh, backroads roadkill, salvaging what they can for dinner and turning the rest into a piece of art.
The show teaches how to get roadkill from the road, to the table and then to the wall. Game meat is packed with Omega-3, the highest proportion of Omega-3 comes from wild animals that have grown up eating grass. Low omega-3 levels have been reported in people with psychiatric disorders. Supplementing with omega-3 fatty acids has been shown to decrease violent behavior. Some studies also suggest that omega-3 supplements can improve symptoms in people with both schizophrenia and bipolar disorder.

According to a study by Purdue University, wild game such as deer and elk have an ideal ratio of Omega-3 to Omega-6 fatty acids, making game one of the healthiest sources on earth. Also high in iron and zinc game meat supports the body’s vital functions including; growth, respiration, digestion, reproduction, metabolism and movement. The mission of Roadkill Art is to teach how to utilize the millions of pounds of game meat that is produced from automobile collisions annually, helping to provide free available meat to anyone’s freezer. State Farm Insurance Co. a definitive source for yearly roadkill counts stated: “1.8 M auto insurance claims involving animal collisions were filed across the nation between July 1st, 2022, and June 30th, 2023”. State Farm’s number alone, 1.8 M multiplied by the low number of 50 pounds, comes to 90 M pounds of available game meat.
I have been researching roadkill in the US for 10 years, which lead to building an app, also titled Roadkill Art.
The Roadkill Art App is a free app built to help easily find roadkill. App members either report roadkill or check the ‘Map View’ or ‘List View’ to find what has been reported and fresh to pick up. It is legal to take roadkill in 48 states, though a call to action is required in most states through either the Natural Resource, Sheriff or Police Departments.
Roadkill laws in the United States vary significantly by state, reflecting diverse attitudes toward wildlife management and public health. While some states embrace roadkill collection as a practical use of resources, others impose restrictions to safeguard wildlife and the environment. Understanding these laws is crucial for individuals who wish to collect roadkill legally and responsibly.
The Roadkill Art App provides current roadkill laws and regulations for every US state, while also helping keep a partial count for Natural Resource Departments. Weather, disease, fires and legislation can quickly reconstruct the course of any states roadkill laws and regulations. The Roadkill Art App continually updates information needed for app member’s when coming up on roadkill available to take home, process and eat. Accurate roadkill laws are not easily found, AI is not always correct pulling its sources from outdated internet information. Roadkill Art is the only place to find accurate US state roadkill laws.
The Roadkill Art App is available in the Apple and Google Play Stores. Once the app is installed and registering is complete, the app will open to a map page, find the ‘Regulations’ icon at the bottom of the page, an orange star. After clicking on the star, behind the icon is a color coded map of the US. The states are divided into 8 categories briefly summarizing what to do when finding and wanting to take roadkill. Click on a state for in-depth information with further instructions and which department or organization to contact.

I invite you to become a Roadkill Art App Member, being part of a unique community sharing in providing a unique way to get people free healthy meat. Even if not wanting roadkill for yourself, by reporting it in the Roadkill Art App others are alerted that have the means to pick it up and turn it into a hearty dinner. One simple task of reporting roadkill in the Roadkill Art App can lead to providing meals, delicious game meat meals, to a lot of people.
The Roadkill Art reality series employs the use of the app saving roadkill hunting families time and money when searching for what is available on local back roads.
