As some of you may know, my grandmother passed away on April 19, 2013. In 2011, after battling diabetes for many years, she had her right leg amputated and it completely changed her life. Diabetes is a debilitating disease, but in most cases, it can be prevented. Total deaths from diabetes are projected to rise more than 50% in the next 10 years. Better awareness and access to health services can help prevent blindness, kidney failure, and amputations that are life altering.
On May 19, one month after her passing, I will run a 10K for the Diabetes Foundation in memory of my grandmother, Margaret Murphy Nilan, and in honor of the patients I help treat at Advanced Vasular Associates. Please make a contribution and help me help others in their battle with diabetes!!
