My amazing mother in law, Laura, has recently beaten Multiple Myeloma for the second time. I've been so inspired by her courage. I'm joining my father in law to race for the cure!

I'm Ryan and I'm so excited to be a part of this amazing cause and supporting my wonderful mother in law, Laura, and so many others on their path to recovery. I live in Indianapolis with my wife, Molly, and our rescue pup, Yoda, and in my free time I love to travel, camp, hike, and volunteer with Big Brothers Big Sisters of America.
The goal is to raise awareness about this rare cancer and generate funding for research and enhanced patient care.
Each fall for over a decade, Dr. Abonour and his fellow Miles for Myeloma cyclists - a crew made up of myeloma researchers and medical caregivers, family members of patients and even a few patients themselves - set out on the annual Miles for Myeloma ride. The two-day cycling event gives myeloma patients and their loved ones the opportunity to conduct personalized fund-raising campaigns to generate awareness about the blood cancer and raise funding for IU research aimed at improving treatments for this rare disease.
Miles for Myeloma has raised more than $5 million for IU multiple myeloma research and patient care since 2005. The work funded by these dollars is helping us better understand the disease and conduct clinical trials to explore new treatment options.
To help support patients affected by the disease today, Miles for Myeloma has broadened its scope and the effort will support both research at the IU Simon Cancer Center via the IU Foundation and enhanced patient care at the IU Health Simon Cancer Center via the IU Health Foundation. Myeloma is incurable, so research and enhanced care are our hope for the future.
Disclaimer: Gifts to Miles for Myeloma support research at the IU School of Medicine via the IU Foundation and enhanced patient care at IU Health via the IU Health Foundation.
