Calling on my fellow jazz musicians and lovers, I learned today that FIREHOUSE RECORDING studios in Pasadena, CA has ceased operations as of September 30, 2016. Unfortunately, I have a recording project with a balance due and I need help to get it paid for an FAST. The tracks will be lost is I can't get them paid for in the next 48 hours. This is an excerpt from the email I received today (initially sent on 9/28/2016) "HI Sandra!Thank you but I don’t think you are understanding what is happening here :(. The studio closed and will no longer have access to your materials. I am trying to work with you so you can get your remaining tracks and trying to see what you can settle for.
We ceased operations on 9/30/16 and I am here over the next few weeks settling the logistics etc…
Please understand the files will be gone so I am trying to give you enough notice to get your music before they gut the place.

This is NOT a joke or hoax but a horrifying reality for an artist struggling to create art and pay for it. I have been making monthly payments. I didn't see this coming. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Well, it's been 11 days since I've posted an update but I'm THRILLED to say we've raised nearly $300 and thanks to everyone who has supported this campaign with a donation or just sharing it with others who believe in independent artists and the need to create independent art. That's what this campaign is all about.
I have reserved beautiful Barrett Hall at the Pasadena Conservatory of Music for Sandra Booker & the New Trio "ReUnion" Concert on Saturday, October 24th at 8:00PM. This is my big comeback concert featuring some of my dearest friends and favorite musicians. The event will be recorded for future viewing. We need to raise $2,500 by September 22nd to pay for the hall and with YOUR help we can do it.
The concert will include Dave Robaire on bass, Steve Cotter on guitar, Robert Perkins on drums and Tamir Hendelman on piano with yours truly on vocals performing some of our favorite arrangements from the 90s and some originals from my forthcoming CD, "Voodoo Music: Songs from the 8th Ward" in tribute to the city of New Orleans in the aftermath of hurricane Katrina.
