My name is Maria. I’m a mom of three, and I’m writing this with tears in my eyes and a knot in my throat. I never imagined I’d be in a position to ask strangers for help but here I am because I’m desperate.
I’ve been stuck in an emotionally abusive relationship for years. Every day I put on a brave face for my kids, but the truth is I’m barely holding it together. I’ve cried alone more nights than I can count. I’ve questioned my worth. I’ve had thoughts no mother should ever have. Not because I don’t love my kids God knows I do but because I feel trapped with no way out.
I’m not asking for luxury. I’m not asking for anything more than a chance to breathe, to rebuild, and to give my babies a safe, peaceful place to grow up. A place where they don’t have to see me cry behind closed doors. A place where we can start over without fear hanging over our heads.
What I make isn’t enough to leave. Rent, a deposit, furniture, food—it’s all too much for one person on their own. I’ve stayed longer than I should have because I just don’t have the means to escape. And I’m scared. But I’m also ready. I’m ready to choose peace. I’m ready to fight for my future. I just need help getting there.
